There’s car parking available both at the top entrance to the Botanical Gardens on Napier Terrace, as well as a small car park, with disabled parking, at the lower Spencer Road entrance.

For a truly coastal experience, the path from Ahuriri Port to the Napier Airport is unbeatable. This flat and straightforward route hugs the shoreline, offering uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean, before heading in-land and continuing along the Westshore Wildlife Reserve, which is adjacent to the airport. The gentle sea breeze and soothing sound of waves and native birdlife make this walk incredibly refreshing. Along the way, you’ll encounter a mix of locals jogging, cycling, or strolling, all soaking in the beauty of the Hawke’s Bay coastline.

Where to Start: We recommend starting from Magnet Café – a cute container café set right next to the Port, (opposite Coote Road) then head past the port and on to Ahuriri. Keep walking along the coast, past the Sailing Club, over the bridge and along Westshore beach, before crossing over to the Westshore Wildlife Reserve just off Watchman Road, next to the airport.
4. Bluff Hill Lookout
This is the most challenging walk on the list, but it’s worth every step. Bluff Hill Lookout offers sweeping vistas of Napier Port, Hawke's Bay, and beyond. While the path includes uphill sections, the climb is manageable for those with moderate fitness levels, if taken at a relaxed pace. The reward?
