Winning Dish of the Bay in Ahuriri

This June, Dish of the Bay runs throughout the region, and Ahuriri’s finest eateries have put down the gauntlet ready to seize the win. Don’t miss these tantalising dishes and be sure to cast your vote!

Introducing Bellatino’s Kitchen - newbie in the Neighbourhood Market (where you used to feast on Picnic’s delights), come and try their distinctly New-Zealand dish: a Strawberry & Kawakawa Tart.

Featuring Tatsumi Strawberries from Clive, renowned for their succulent sweetness, nestled within a delicate tart shell crafted from Humble Flour grown in Otane. Their Patisserie Crème, made with Lindsay Farm a2 milk and Waipukurau based Pasture Poultry Organic Eggs, adds a rich and velvety touch, perfectly complementing the vibrant strawberries.

Next to challenge is Shed 2 with their delectable Massaman Curry! Tender braised beef cheek in Massaman Curry with sweet potato, water chestnut, cherry tomato, macadamia, fried shallot, chilli, and coriander, served with jasmine rice. Perfect for a winter evening - see you there!

Head a little further along West Quay and drop into The Gintrap to taste their Heritage Blue Fillet Medley. Savor the exquisite Heritage Beef Fillet paired with creamy Hohepa Blue Dauphinoise, complemented by the fresh zest of watercress and the subtle heat of green pepper. Our mouths are already watering…

Our final Ahuriri challenger is The Urban Winery - ready to win your vote with their Wild Urban Burger. Sink your teeth into The Wild Urban Burger featuring wild game venison, creamy Origin Earth blue cheese, beetroot, mushrooms, tomatoes, and caramelized onions, all nestled in a soft brioche bun.

Voting opens on 1 June - make sure you try all four to make your choice!
